Muse-Creations for Our Forgive it Forward Giveaway – Because forgiveness and creativity go hand-in-hand for us, Ray and I thought it would be fun to spice up our 35-day Forgive It Forward project launch with a focus on the arts. So, we sent a call out to the muses among us for a little assist and some inspiration.
Between June 14th and July 19th, we introduced artists, sculptors, potters, musicians – and more – who forgave it forward with us by donating a gift for a random drawing giveaway. Each muse answered two questions and shared a little bit about their creative process and passion. We hope they inspire you.
Karla Zdroik: Artist and Sculptor
Irish Wolfhound
Every morning a 24-leg entourage greets me, each “set of four” with their very distinct personality. To the novice passerby they are just stray cats but to me they are more than that. What I love about Karla’s work is how she captures the “more,” the personality of each four-legged character she sculpts. These little – and not so little – creatures are muses who inspire and inform her work, which is what makes her “Forever Memories” commissions so popular. Karla loves animals and loves what she does – and it shows!
Karla’s Artist’s Statement:
I’m an artist who loves contrast, movement and texture in artwork so I continually strive to show that in my own work. And although I do love to create ‘realism’ – to have figures come ‘ALIVE’ – I also appreciate humor so you will occasionally see some of my pieces reflecting that too! My commission work specializes in creating “Forever Memories” – past and present sculptures of someone’s beloved companion.

So, tell us Karla …
R&B: What does “forgive it forward” mean to you?
KZ: I’d have to say it’s putting yourself in someone else’s shoes when they are doing something that may make it a situation that you would need to forgive them for. See the story from their point of view and you’ll find it easier to forgive them for their discrepancies.
This is a close up of a sculpted “Kamansa Keepsake”
of Karla’s Muse, Chloe – NOT a painting.
R&B: How do you feel art enriches your life and helps to heal our world?
KZ: My artwork enriches my life by fulfilling a lifelong dream of creating works that make people happy whether it is a personal memory of a beloved one or just something that makes them smile. It could even be something that they just love to look at and makes them remember a different time. I’d have to say that’s a way that it also heals the world.
