Book Projects

Bernadette’s Pages: An Intimate Crossroad (Ongoing)

This project is the messiest of all. It started messy. With me, a struggling artist in search of herself and a copy of The Artist’s Way and my husband of eighteen years in search of himself and another woman. Okay, maybe not that simple but you can imagine your own messy on this one … or read the book.

If the book is published why do I still call it a project?

Two reasons.

1. Because it’s about a message. Not a book. And a message doesn’t end with book in hand. Messages are not ours alone – and that makes it a community project in my book. (Cliché intended.)

2. Because I’m not a guerilla marketer. I’m an artist and I just like the word “project” better. Try as I have, I still cringe with marketing and promoting. They’re not among my talents and I have much respect (and awe) for those who enjoy connecting the networking dots. (If you’re one of those people I welcome your participation in the project!)

PROJECT LIST

• A Book Video Trailer (Completed)

(Click on center arrow to play video from this blog or click on the YouTube logo for enlarged view from YouTube.)

There’s nothing like seeing a messy smidgen of your life put to music. (Like a wedding video in reverse, without the “I do’s” and the bad dancing. Almost worth the tears.)

This project was a lot of fun. I came up with the copy. My web muse, Juliette, provided her photography and the technical magic. I passed the project on to her with rough music/copy breaks and she did all the rest. When she sent me her first “draft” it was pronounced inspired and finished. (Oh, and I cried.)

If you like it then “Like” it and let Juliette know!

THANK YOU, Juliette Mansour of Casa Dresden, for your vision in the creation and production of this trailer – and for “connecting me with the big picture.”

• A Companion Guide for Bernadette’s Pages (In Process)

Companion Guide Introduction

Where B’s Pages gives you the voyeuristic view of events, the Companion Guide takes you through 10 Formulas that helped me find myself and forgive the mess. (His and mine!) I had to dig them out of the journal because I didn’t know they were formulas at the time. (Now I know what it was that worked and I’m sharing it here!) Oh, and there’s an index of page numbers under each formula so you can see what it looks like in “real time.” I am currently up to Formula Number 4. (I got sidetracked with other projects.)

• Then and Now: Time Travel through the Eyes of Bernadette’s Pages (In Process)

Then and Now: Falling

This “time travel” experiment turned out to be a high maintenance inspiration that lasted a month. But I really like the format. Some great insights came out of it and I might even get back to finishing it when the “Now” dates match up with the “Then” dates. (I got sidetracked with the book trailer and fell behind.)
