MoonDance Manifesting: Intention

I Dream In Fire Poster
I hosted a creativity challenge for the Mused Community group I belong to on Facebook. For one month, we played under the moonlight and embarked on a  journey toward harvesting our creative desires by using the cycles of the moon. MoonDance came from a 9-month manifestation series I created that combined moon cycles with creativity and Feng Shui. I adapted the first of its four-part formula (AWARENESS) to creativity because I find, as multi-faceted creative folk, we spend ample time ON the moon in our imaginal realm but are challenged with how to manifest our talents back in the earth realm. Whether for profit or pleasure, we often lose our rhythm and our joy when it comes to balancing mundane matters with activities that nurture us as artists and writers and musicians … This post is a "bonus" forum for the Mused Community MoonDancers who wish to continue and combine what they learned with the next piece of the formula. (INTENTION) PSSST: If you are a passerby who just happened on this you will glean some moonbeams to light your own journey. If you are curious about AWARENESS, the first part of the formula, email me and I will send you a downloadable PDF file. (Free.)

AWARENESS + INTENTION + _________ = _________

MONTH 2: Waxing Moon INTENTION • Webster’s New World Dictionary defines intention as “A determination to act in a specified way.” (Hmmm. Short and to the point but not very exciting.) Determination. Let’s look that one up. “Firmness of purpose.” Sounds like work. And indeed it is without awareness. Without awareness we find ourselves abundantly well intentioned. (Isn’t there a road to hell somewhere, paved with good intentions?) So, why is that? Applying intention without awareness is like a using a road map with no destination in mind. We find ourselves traveling to a lot of places that we may not want to visit – unless it was our intention to meander. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.) If intention enlists so much power when it meets with the law of attraction wouldn’t we like to know where we are going? (Or at least know how we got there if it’s not to our liking?) I have a little game I play whenever I find myself considering a major change; like a move for example. I ask, “Based on what I know about myself as I am now and how I would like to see myself a year from now what kind of environment (house/community/lifestyle) would support me moving in that direction?” I make out a list and determine (there’s that word) what would best support my meeting that goal – that vision of self. Then I play. I pretend. I shop the universe. A deceptively simple but critical question. Dissect it. Based on what I know about myself as I am now (awareness) and how I would like to see myself a year from now (intention) what kind of environment (house/community/lifestyle) would support me moving in that direction? (A determination to act in a specified way.) Now, this creates a list that will take you places. MoonWork Prompt Art What are you going to do during this waxing moon, this time of readily absorbing new ideas and approaches? You are going to flex your awareness and intention muscles and ask yourself the same question.
  • List seven things that you know about yourself as you are today. (Love gardening. Hate snow. Easily distracted. Caregiver. Voracious reader. Frustrated musician. Etc.)
  • Then list – determine – how you would like to see yourself a year from now.
  • Now, play with your lists. Pretend. Mentally shop for the environment that will support you moving in that direction. And remember, environment can refer to your inner terrain – emotional and spiritual – as well.
For example: If you love to draw and haven’t in a long while, what would it take to get you moving? Joining a local artist’s guild so you can exchange information and inspiration? Put that on your list. Ordering pizza and inviting friends over to help you clear out that junk room so you can set up a studio? Write that down, too. Get the picture? Go about this lightly. This is not about coming up with the perfect list and setting out to perfectly execute it. Just PLAY with it!
